Announcing KoineOPEN - Drupal for Non-profits

I am currently working with several Drupal developers and partners including IS7 Interactive on a new Drupal distribution for non-profits called "KoineOPEN".   KoineOPEN will make the powerful Drupal CMS system easy to use and affordable for non-profit organizations.  KoineOPEN is pre-packaged and configured Drupal to meet the needs of most organizationsis extended distribution of Drupal designed for building enterprise-class Web 2.0 style websites. It includes over 60 contributed modules, and several additional custom modules.

Drupal is unmatched in the open source world as far as flexibility and extensibility. However, this power comes at a cost; a significant learning curve. Leveraging my experience with Drupal, IS7's experience working with many non-profits and understanding their needs, and my background working with non-profits and consulting with donor management software, this new solution will meet the needs of many organizations and be an attractive alternative to expensive proprietary CMS's like Convio and Kintera that are always behind the curve with the latest trends on-line such as social publishing, social media, and community-building.

Over a several month period in 2009, we worked with Orange Leap and gathered functional requirements from several non-profit organizations.  We are currently building out KoineOPEN based on the input received from 7 different large non-profits.

We will be providing demos of KoineOPEN over the next several months.  Looking forward to serving non-profits with this new Drupal distribution!
